At the 3rd Annual Forensic Psychiatry Conference in Syracuse on August 11, retired FBI agent Robert (Roy) Hazelwood, MS, discussed how ritualistic serial rapists are distinguished from other rapist populations. Mr Hazelwood is Senior Vice President of the Academy Group, Incorporated (AGI) (www.academy-group.com). He was among the agents who pioneered criminal profiling at the FBI Behavioral Science Unit at Quantico, Virginia. This unit inspired the book and later the film, The Silence of the Lambs, which highlighted the importance of criminal profiling in apprehending sexual predators. In this short clip, he discusses the 3 tasks he focused on in Behavioral Science.
