By the year 2050, it is estimated that the number of people with Alzheimer disease and other forms of dementia will explode to 36 million in the US and over 160 million worldwide, over 3 times the current rate.

Once a patient has dementia, efforts to reverse it are challenging. Research in the last 10 years has focused on our ability to identify preclinical stages and has moved forward rapidly.

Here to provide a preview of his presentation at the US  Psychiatric and Mental Health Congress in San Diego is Dr Anton P. Porsteinsson, William B. and Sheila Konar Professor and Director of the Alzheimer Disease Care Research and Education Program at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, NY.

His presentation, “Preventing Cognitive Decline in Your Patients” is scheduled for Thursday, November 8th, from 4 to 5:30 PM.
